I think it's about time to just blow up the damn ship.

This isn't a bad thing, not at all.

I could get a good price for some of these parts. So perhaps a more dexterous dismantling is called for.

No boom today, maybe boom tomorrow.

It's really funny

when the drugs
I keep swinging from super inspired to super pissed off to totally pleased with doing exactly what I've wanted to do.

I had a great weekend and am feeling pretty damned content.

The other thing I need to do is check up on my library books, I think a few of them are coming due soon. Thank goodness for online renewal!

M is for Mutant

BOLDLY GO!
Today I made banana bread. It kind of went all mutated with one side much bigger than the other. My mutant bread!

A few minutes ago I hear a nomnomnom sound from over in the kitchen.

THE KITTENS WERE NIBBLING THE LOAF!

Fred on one side (he makes the noise), Lucy on the other.

It's now wrapped up and in fridge where it's safe.

UNTIL THE KITTENS LEARN TO OPEN THAT TOO!

PORKCHOP!!!
Next week it happens, I'm sending something else out into the world for acceptance or rejection!

Holy crap. Basically I need to just get off my duff and start sending things out or I'll end up in some vicious virgo cycle of 'it's not good enough yet!' it's good enough now, send it out, learn how to make it better! (or blow it up and start all over again.

They sent the time and location for our reading group at Wiscon. *SWEAT*
I'm excited though, it's a pretty big step for me.

I missed a BEDA day yesterday, but I'll sneak in and backdate and entry. hohoho~

That's what I bought today. There are bananas that are turning brown on the counter, so I bought some brown eggs to make banana bread tomorrow.

Got all crazy jittery today from too much caffeine, that hasn't happened in a long time.

Writing was done, sewing was done, went to a poetry reading and had hot drinks.

A pretty good day.

Two things that have made me happy

This a good reminder for myself, oh she of too many projects. Wandering is all well and good, but it needs substance.

This mind is like a fish out of water that thrashes and throws itself about, its thoughts following each of its cravings.

Such a wandering mind is weak and unsteady, attracted here, there and everywhere. How good it is to control it and know the happiness of freedom.

And yes, yes, it's that Susan Boyle video again, but I can't help it! I'm such a sap.

I'm eagerly awaiting the cautiously-worded press release from Amazon on this. Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
It's just so WEIRD, like bizzaro-Amazon or something.

Amazon de-ranks so-called adult books, including National Book Award winner

LJ community documenting what this means and titles that have been de-ranked.

ETA: Amazon responds: It was a glitch! Publisher's weekly link.

(excuse me, I think I have the 'head is all desky' glitch)

No matter how worn-out, wrung-out and wonky I am, I cannot resist Battle Angel Alita Last Order.

I picked it up last night right as I was about to go to bed and didn't put it down until it was over.

I was kind of hoping for some awesome dreams, but not such luck.

It reminds me of when I had the flu and read all the Hellsing I could before bed.

It's April, and I think that I should watch the Honey & Clover drama again. If only for Hagu-chan's awesome dresses.

Wiscon woah!

You just keep on trying til you run out
Freaking out a bit because of the pro who will be most likely be leading the workshop I sent my story into.
(Because they're kind of nominated for a Hugo this year)

Now comes the shame spiral where I read said story again (I'm revising it...again) and go OMG THIS IS A SACK OF TOAD CRAP!

Then I figure I just need another cup of coffee.

I'm in a spacy kind of head area right now.

I can tell it's getting warmer because I'm inclined to want sweet tea than soda. (Which is good because I can make GALLONS of it at home, not so much with Dr Pepper)

I walked into Hobby Lobby today and when I walked out it was like I'd walked into a different world. The wind had picked up and was whipping everything around, and it was hazy. I had thought that it was just because it was kicking up a lot of dust, but no, there were a lot of large scale grass fires in the surrounding counties and the smoke was blowing in. At 6PM you could smell it outside and the fires were all over 100 miles away in places. Last I head they'd all been contained.

The kittens are still insane. Luci jumped me like a mini facehugger this morning for kitten kibble. She just launched herself at my leg and clung there.

I have so many writing projects that I feel like I should get some kind of octopus graft. 8 arms to write you baby.

Guys that carry around large jugs of water as if to say "this is how I drink my recommended daily allowance of water" tend to be real tools.

Such a weird character trait.

So next weekend there's going to be a crawfish boil at the park, this means crawfish within walking distance! Am I excited by this? Yes, yes I am.

Peach Jamba is a good dinner too. It's left over from the other day when I was just too full to finish it, so there's nearly an entire cup to devour. I'm scraping it out with a spoon until it's soft enough to finally drink.

I'm trying not to think about the hot days ahead, as summer and I have never really agreed with each other. Instead I'm thinking about how the days are just packed. At least the weekends will be, writer convention, flea markets, bday parties, crafternoons and the like.

I keep meaning to pick up an instrument again. I mean hell, I played the trumpet for how many years in school? I miss it a little. Maybe I'll go swipe my brother's old violin. Then have someone call animal control on me because it would sound like I was doing terrible things to the cats.

What are you planning for spring/summer?

A few random gardening thoughts

  • Apr. 4th, 2009 at 11:32 PM
$$$
The snap peas I planted in Feb are twisting their little tendrils around anything they can. I need to replant the ones that are still in the peat pots.

Want to get the area for composting set up tomorrow.

Maybe borrow the roto-tiller to get the dirt chopped up in the back yard.

I have big plans for pickled okra at the end of the season. And tomatoes.

I got nothin'

So five things make a post! GO!
  1. I'm super happy that good things are happening for a friend of mine, she really deserves it. (and more!)
  2. Really needing to clean the craft room (again) as I want to make myself some summer dresses.
  3. I think my hair is the longest it's ever been. This is something pretty exciting. (woo~)
  4. I'm really thinking I need to go re-read all of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
  5. The wisteria is blooming and there's some pretty irises on campus.
ROCK! Now I sleep.

BOLDLY GO!

Big Kitty asleep on the computer. He just barely fit and keeps putting a paw on my knee to keep himself balanced.

I think Fred is learning a bit too much from him. Just now after about a million ruuuuuub on me passes, he flung himself into my arms in a swoon looking up with this, "NOW YOU SHALL PET ME!"

Oh yeah. Cat pics.

The year so far!

affection noted mistress.
(Poor LJ, how I've been neglecting you)

Learned to:
  • Crochet
  • Knit (thank god! this was frustrating as holy hell until I finally found of all things, a video on youtube)
  • Make sourdough bread from scratch (as in having a bowl of foul bubbly stuff to take care of daily on the kitchen counter)
Adopted two new kittens, Fred and Lucy. Stay tuned for a week of kitten photos. :P
(Fred has chosen Big Kitty as his hero and is more excited to see him when he comes in than us.)

I'm taking three classes this semester with a projected graduation date of Dec '09 *woot woot*
The fiction writing glass I'm taking is a whole other universe from the poetry class. We do writing exercises in class and on Wed, she had us watch part of Dexter to illustrate characterization.

Hung out with my mom on Friday and showed her the wonders of Etsy. She's wanting find some small way to bring in a little extra money while doing something she enjoys.

I'm planning out the garden for this spring. We used to always have a garden growing up so it'll be nice to do that again, but also I have a more nefarious reason. NOT HAVING TO MOW THE DAMN LAWN SO DAMN MUCH! *coff*

Work is work.

Getting much more writing done, but seriously it's not enough. Better Quality and less flitting from one idea to another.

It's supposed to rain several days next week and that usually puts me in a good mood.
